Totems are actually dangerous thanks to initiative round robin system. The bone widow IS ridicolously strong and borderline OP, but cycling summons is even stronger despite it. My main reason for writing this was to help people out if they want to play a summoner and kill off the false info that "because you can only have one summon out no reason to use anything but bone widow". If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you DO want to play a damage dealer + summoner, I would strongly advice ditching the widow (yep you heard that right) and go pyro spells /w plant and incarnate. Note that you can't go wrong with the plant in geo if you were wondering, it is very strong and offers good synergy with pyro. Nearly every skill is mandatory (elemental totem is not one of them btw, obsolete after A1 imo). I advice taking Mnotic or whatever its called for +3 skill slots.Īttributes: Int (enough for gear), TON of memory! I have 1 1/2 skill bar of skills. Talents: Stench, All skilled up, pawn, rest is optional. My tree near endgame looks like this, can't recall the base values for all of these. Optionally you can go into necro for death immunity (2 rounds) and such. You want all your AP to focus on buffs for your summons, heals and CC removal. However, in my experience, a hybrid damage dealer summoner is still vastly inferior to going a pure summoner that cycles through summons and buff/heal the summons and the team. What you want is clear minded, haste, flame crescendo, frost armor and heals.Īdmittedly summons are a bit OP atm. Optionally you can grab skingraft which resets your cooldowns, it can be very helpful as a summoner due to long cooldowns.Īs for the rest, grab pyro 2 and hydro/geo. Ever seen an enraged supercharged bone widow or incarnate? That shit fucks shit up hard. You also want 1 in scoundrel for pawn (1AP free movement). You can invest another 1 point in scoundrel for 1AP teleport and more bonus movement too. Because on the low-ap round that follows you have 1AP cost buffs you can use anyway while your summon wrecks. Scoundrel for Adrenaline is godtier for summoner. IMO the best thing you can do /w a summoner after TONS of rerolls and experimentation is: You want/need at least 2 summons to cycle through and supercharge. Playing a summoner is not a world of "What one summon do I want?" Using all of them in a difficult fight is vastly superior to just using one. You can remove the charm or CC or simply summon something else to remove it. Is your bone widow CCd or charmed (trust me you don't want to let a charmed bone widow live if you can't disable it). You simply use the summon that has the highest relevance. There is absolutely no specific order you need to use them in, your cycling priority is based on what you need at the moment.ĭo I need a heal or poison arrow heal for fane or an undead? If you need a knockdown go for the incarnate earlier then bloated corpse or widow. Now here is the brilliant part about summon cycling. The bone widow will still be up, but be mindful that you now have to cast incarnate next (as it will disappear the next round). After the bone widow has done its turn, supercharge it and enrage it for massive damage on its 2nd turn. On your next turn, summon bone widow and spend the rest of your AP to give it frost armor and/or buff/heal allies including the widow. Decided to show how I play summoner and how I think it is optimal after 116 hours as a summoner through multiple campaigns (solo and /w friends).īloated corpse + flame crescendo, deadly combo that costs 3AP only if a corpse is present. Another major complaint/argument is "Incarnate VS Bone widow" as if this was a mutually exclusive permanent choice or something. I see many people complain about only being able to have 1 summon out at a time.
